A page full of annoying doodles.

Actually, spending four hours drawing my friends and classmates and my own hands was actually a hell of a lot of fun. I've always loved hands, and how amazingly expressive they can be.

Up until last year, I thought I was pretty good at drawing hands, but my portfolio score set me straight.

So here, I present the hands portion of my homework. Drawings of five hands and three feet. I won't be posting the feet.

Like I said, I've always loved hands, and they never cease to amaze me. They are severely taken for granted on a daily basis. My favourite hand is the one on the top right, even though the third finger has a fat tip, and the first finger has a fat base, I liked it best. And that one is my hand! Haha. The hand to the left of it is my classmate Kristen's hand, the one below that mine, and the last two my room mate Leah's. Her hands aren't that knobby lookin', I exaggerated her knuckles for fun.

I stayed up late last night to finish these things and to mount them properly on mayfair. Wow, did I regret that. I also had to finish up my 2D design work, which was an excersize in typography. We had to take a quote off a page given, and we had to make an expressive sentence, experimenting with fonts. My chosen quote was the following...

One of the critiques I got in class struck me as just rude, when a class mate commented that she would have "Chosen a much better font that that" for "Danger".

TOO BAD, I LIKE IT.

I have to make very few changes to this before I print it off; but on the whole the teacher liked it.

Even though we were critiquing, my brain was far from present in class. I spent the day picking random annoying poses and drawing them!

Life is good. Anyways, a bunch of posed doodles, from reaching up on a shelf, to reaching under a dresser, to.. Uhm... Bending over with hands on knees (it was supposed to be bending over to touch toes, but I failed) sleeping, and I guess this is sort of... landing... No idea.

I heard news that the next move in the strike is to-- well, strike.

Which would be lousy and lame, but what can you do?

REBEEEEL!!! YOU CAN'T HOLD BACK ART, EVEN IF YOU CLOSE DOOOOWN!

Maaaan, this is going to cut into my summer wages...

Wouldn't It Be Nice?

My digital media teacher stinks.

I went to open my files to work on my master page earlier today, and it's packaged in such a format that my computer can't read it.

I had to wait until business class, get the files emailed to me by a fellow classmate, and lost my entire working day. So now I'm going to be working on it tomorrow, only a day before it's due. How aggravating, boo.

So the picture for the day! I already posted this to deviantart, so sort of said everything I wanted to say about it, but here's my character Suka and Sarah's character Chase. In the RP we've got them in, we've got the stickiest, most drama filled soap opera going on ever.. because as soon as things start flowing smoothly we have to make it all messy and tangled to keep it interesting, or else it's boring. So.. Suka doesn't remember Chase, Chase is on a completely different continent, and... It's a little hard to keep straight in my head.

Anyways, I drew this today in business class to prove I could. I kinda miss the extremely conflicting personalities somehow getting along smashingly and loving each other very much. Hm... there's a lot of ground to cover before these two could be reunited again, but wouldn't it be nice?

For THEM, I'm sure.

EEK! It's a familiar face!

Look who I drew!

My goodness, I have the hardest time drawing this girl. Just like Alan, I don't know her very well, so when it comes to drawing her, I don't know what to do.

I should think about her back story. Once I sort that out a bit, she'd be so much easier to draw.

As I was working, I was irked by how similar her and Tinette were, in terms of build. It frustrated me, and Kara just got a little rounder and little softer than Tina.

In an all out cat fight, Tinette would probably win, but definitely not for lack of trying. Kara isn't someone to be taken lightly; Though she has an over all happy disposition, she can just as easily open up a can of whoop ass in an instant. She has a tendency to overrun what people are saying (especially Ainmire), and takes charge of most situations. She's got a good temper, but can be hot headed as she's easily excited. And when she gets going, it's difficult to stop her. However, Ainmire has gotten very good at that.

Uhm.. Like I said, I really don't know much about her. I know she loves Ain with all her heart, and would do anything for him. I know he loves her, though he doesn't let on because he doesn't care for mushy feelings and he's very very very anti-touchy-feely, while Kara is a hugger.

I love her costume, as I mentioned before. Like most of my characters, she's lacking in any body piercings or tattoos, yet is pretty anyways. Ainmire was very lucky to find this girl! Even if he doesn't know it yet.

Hmmm, it's getting late. I should consider going to bed...

Stolen Smooch

I'm so glad I've finally worked out a design for Alan.

He was bumming around in my brain for the longest time; turns out the only reason I couldn't stand him was his jawline. I know him much better now!

And I feel much better about drawing him, and writing about him.

So this is an idea I got some time last night, I was planning it out as I was trying to fall asleep. It's not exactly what I had in mind, as nothing ever is, but I am happy with it. Feels good to take a break from portfolio work every now and again.

Ha, you can't see his goatee through Suka's hair.

Today, was my first eight AM class of the year. Despite being eight AM... I believe I'm going to highly enjoy this class. We watched the musical "Singing in the Rain" which picked my spirits right up, even if my brain wasn't working. I've decided I want to try to hunt down that on DVD, I liked it that much. We're also going to be studying Citizen Kane again, which I'm both thrilled about and dreading. Tomorrow is another Eight AM class, but that's alright, I can deal. Just have to go to bed a little earlier. Probably a good thing I didn't take that nap that was calling to me before dinner.

Tomorrow I'm hanging around school for my four hour break to work on my portfolio. I'm still debating making lunch or buying some from school. I'll probably wind up buying some, because I'm a lazy bastard.

So yaaay! Some free drawing *stretches* my wrist is very sore right now from working on such an odd angle, but I'm glad I finished. Well, finished as far as I'm going to finish. I wanted to draw this on bristol and paint it with watercolours, or maybe play with my markers, but digital was calling to me as a quick easy fix because I drew it on regular old cartridge paper.

Oh right, Suka's not sure how to deal with the current situation, because even though she cares deeply for Alan, she's married to somebody else. Even if that someone else has been missing for over a year and is believed dead by all the other members of her village. Suka is far too faithful and trusting for her own good, poor girl.

I have been busy!

Yes, I actually have.

Been working away at my portfolio!

Yet again!

For the second year running!

Why?

Animation.

If you didn't know that, you clearly don't know me.

So anyways, here, I present my character Tinette, all dressed up in her not so fancy pants gear, and set up in a .gif file so you can watch her rotate in all her not so fancy pants glory!

I have no idea if it will work from here, you're probably going to have to click it in order to see the five poses.

I've also finished my action poses, my room drawings, my composition drawings, my observational hand drawings, my life drawings, and my animal drawings. All that I have left, is my expression sheet, which is almost finished, and my storyboard, which is in the planning stages somewhere.

Meaning it's not close to being finished, but once I buckle down! I'm considering Wednesday, as I have a four hour break between classes and I'm apparently sticking around school to work on portfolio shiz with Leah and Kristen. And THAT way, I can collect opinions!

I'm considering having a naked lady coming out of the box. That would be amusing. For me to draw, I don't know about the boy.

Now then, I think it's time to take a break from portfolio related work! For the time being, I'm at a standstill. I want to ink work I've finished, but I know that isn't a very smart idea because I plan to show my work to teachers, and there's no point coming to them with something that is already finished and then ask what I need to change. You see? I'll draw some expressions later, but for now, I think I'll do some nerd related writing. Hooray!

I Thought I'd Try Some Blue

I was in a drawing mood. I've been doing too much portfolio work and not a single personal piece since Christmas.

I was watching Xena and talking to a friend of mine on MSN about doll making, and I started looking up different patterns. I stumbled across more costumes than anything, and I was all itching to try some costume drawings. And I wanted to draw Tinette, because she's wonderfully curvy.

Even though tomorrow I start on a Tina marathon, because I picked her for my portfolio.

ANYWAYS...

I forget what I was talking about.

My back currently hates me, and I discovered, much to my dismay, I somehow lost about a page and a half of my writing. I was very sad; but I quickly wrote it back in. It probably wasn't as awesome as it was previously, but I would have edited it a thousand times anyways.

Yeah, I'm in a lot of pain.

Didn't feel to hot for most of the day, but what can you do.

Uhm...

Yay, blue.

I think Tina could suit just about every colour. Yay!

Pretty Snazzy!

I got markers for Christmas. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Of course I had to play with them... However, since coming home Sunday, my days have been filled with nothing but portfolios, insanity, panic attacks, cleaning, and desperately needed vacations from my brain.

So today, during yet another vacation from my brain, I had Chelsea over to 1. Spare me from losing my mind, and 2. to give me pointers on drawing animals. In return, I was going to show her how I ink things!

So really fast in my red pencil, I drew up a Suka doodle, and I inked. I really can't give advice on inking, seeing as I just started inking things myself over the summer... But I shared what I knew; Confidence! Confidence and learning to be intuitive with your lines. And practice! Which I need more of!

I'm still not happy with the amount of line variety I get in my drawings, even though it is far more than if you handed me a pen and asked me to ink something last March. So, after quickly sketching it, I scanned Suka into my computer and told Chelsea how I removed the red lines and cleaned up my linearts for colouring! Theres about a hundred million different ways to do this... So I emailed her some links to check out for herself when she got home and wasn't depending on memory.

I wasn't initially planning on colouring this... But Chelsea was drawing doggies on my bed and I was wheeling around asking her questions and playing music when I glanced in my closet to my yet untested markers.

Of course, I yanked them out and was like, "I LIEK MARKERZ!" And pulled up my sketchbook for a baseboard and started to marker. I like the smell of markers, but I'm blaming them for my current headache.

I realized my scanner does a very nice job of scanning colours! It doesn't eat them or destroy them, just takes them, and puts them on my screen. Ah, and no skin tone yet. Why? Because like hell I'm going to colour pale Suka with a marker labeled "Peach". She's not a fruit, thank you! I'll be picking up some better skin tones once the school bookstore is open again. Tomorrow I'm back to work anyways.
