Vibrant Colours!

How I do love bright colours.

I drew a bunch of pictures today, but they were all in my fellow classmates sketchbooks, so I don't have any of them to scan.

Sadface.

I draw a great picture of Ninja that I really liked in ballpoint; so I came home and was talking to Chelsea and I randomly wanted to draw her character AdrennaLynne, because she remind me of Ninja, in the fact that she's incredibly energetic.

She also loves insanely bright colours, and apparently dresses like me. SO, of course, I had fun. Coloured quickly in markers so I could scan it and send it to Chelsea before she went to bed.

Wee, I love drawering.... I wanted to draw Suka, but I've been drawing her a lot these past few days, haha.

"Hello, baby!"

Yeah, I markered over my red lines. Cause I'm cool like that.

Drew and coloured this today as a break from my portfolio work, which is really driving me insane. Not in the sense that I feel like I won't finish (though I guess there's a touch of that) just in the sense of.. "I'm really tired of working on this and want it to be done already,". I still need to redo my layout and finish up my composition, and touch up my hands...

But at the very least, I completely redid my rotation (just a couple things here and there to fix) and my action poses, and my expression sheet.

Woo hoo!

My drawing for today consists of Ainmire and Kara, both traditionally drawn, inked, and rendered. I love my markers. They make me happy. In a very bad way as well as a very good one.

Ainmire hates pet names so much. So of course, Kara never misses a chance to call him one.

I miss drawing these guys, especially Ainmire. I love the relationship they have and they way they act around each other; it makes me smile. Ainmire will never grow accustomed to having a girl who won't leave him be. Not to say he doesn't CARE for Kara, as he does, he's just awkward around people in general. Especially people who actually want something to do with him. Poor baby.

Heh heh, baby...

I'm a jerk.

Ah, I dropped by the school today on the hopes that I could see DQ again and show him my new character rotation and show I took his advice to heart as well as to see if he noticed anything abnormally out of place, but; Due to the fact that I couldn't find him in the directory to call or email, I couldn't tell him ahead of time I wanted to show up, so I was showing up the same time I did last weeks in the hope I'd run into him, and he wasn't there.

Bummer.

So, dejected, I went back to my locker to collect my stuff and walk home, when I ran into Liz. I guess I didn't look that great, because she invited me to join her for coffee, which I gratefully accepted. It was fun, seeing as I haven't had a sit down-go out for coffee-talk thing since last time I was in Orangeville.

Sometimes, I'm homesick. Most of the time I couldn't give a damn.

Playing with the Markers

I had to take a break from computer related things because my head was hurting something fierce. I'm not really in a drawing mood, as all I've been drawing lately is portfolio related works (yes, I totally re-did my rotation, and my action poses, and I'm working on my expressions) And I just wanted to do something fun.

In my sketch-folio, I had this drawing of Tina on bristol, that I either wanted to paint or marker, I can't remember; but I wanted to play with my markers.

After months, I've finally come up with a last name for her. I wanted something that sounded french and snobbish, but I was having a hell of a time on the internet. Meaning I didn't like any of the names I found. I sat back in frustration, and checked my email. I got an email from my mother telling me about a Toulouse Lautrec book she'd seen in Stratford and bought for me.

And from there, I found Tinette's last name. I named her after my favourite print maker ever. I like markers, but I really need more practice with them; I have issues rendering things in full colour, digitally OR traditionally.

ISN'T SHE SO SHINEY!? Tinette is indeed very pretty. Jealous.

So yes, today's fun exercise just to get me away from the computer. It was fun.

I am right now watching Beast's magical transformation from Beauty and the Beast. It is one of my most enjoyed Disney scenes in the world!

I spent the night before Valentines at my friend Winters place for a sleepover. I missed the girls from OD very badly, and it was great to see her and Winter again, even if Renee and Stefanie couldn't make it. We watched movies and ate a lot of sugar, because we could. Had a huge amount of giggle fests and kept ourselves up till three in the morning; woke up around lunch, had pancakes and watched more movies.

My two our commute down to her house was a twenty minute drive, can you believe it? I was shocked. But it was worth the two hours.

Pretty Snazzy!

I got markers for Christmas. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Of course I had to play with them... However, since coming home Sunday, my days have been filled with nothing but portfolios, insanity, panic attacks, cleaning, and desperately needed vacations from my brain.

So today, during yet another vacation from my brain, I had Chelsea over to 1. Spare me from losing my mind, and 2. to give me pointers on drawing animals. In return, I was going to show her how I ink things!

So really fast in my red pencil, I drew up a Suka doodle, and I inked. I really can't give advice on inking, seeing as I just started inking things myself over the summer... But I shared what I knew; Confidence! Confidence and learning to be intuitive with your lines. And practice! Which I need more of!

I'm still not happy with the amount of line variety I get in my drawings, even though it is far more than if you handed me a pen and asked me to ink something last March. So, after quickly sketching it, I scanned Suka into my computer and told Chelsea how I removed the red lines and cleaned up my linearts for colouring! Theres about a hundred million different ways to do this... So I emailed her some links to check out for herself when she got home and wasn't depending on memory.

I wasn't initially planning on colouring this... But Chelsea was drawing doggies on my bed and I was wheeling around asking her questions and playing music when I glanced in my closet to my yet untested markers.

Of course, I yanked them out and was like, "I LIEK MARKERZ!" And pulled up my sketchbook for a baseboard and started to marker. I like the smell of markers, but I'm blaming them for my current headache.

I realized my scanner does a very nice job of scanning colours! It doesn't eat them or destroy them, just takes them, and puts them on my screen. Ah, and no skin tone yet. Why? Because like hell I'm going to colour pale Suka with a marker labeled "Peach". She's not a fruit, thank you! I'll be picking up some better skin tones once the school bookstore is open again. Tomorrow I'm back to work anyways.

Fruit flies buzzing round my head, keep buzzin' round my head keep....

I'll keep singing to the tuneless song. Well it does have a tune, it goes to that song that's like... "Raindrops fallin' on my head, keep fallin' on my head---"

The other day while I was in the bookstore, I figured I'd buy myself a prisma colour marker. I already have a few of them, a bunch of varying grays, a green, a red... Fun stuff, but I saw the "sky blue" marker and for some reason it fascinated me.

I picked it up and decided to pay for it, the thought in my mind that I could use it to make achromatic drawings on top of my gray collection of markers. In my brain I was thinking I could start up a new style for myself as I got used to markers and started to build up my collection.

I'm enjoying it! To the right I have a couple sketches I drew tonight and coloured really really fast sketch like, just to try and get the feel. I also coloured a few of my older, cleaner sketches to see how it looked, and I've decided I want to pull out my green marker and try making achromatic drawings in green.

I also completely forgot about my gray set of markers and wound up not using them at all, but that's alright because I enjoyed myself with just the blue on top of all my messy lines and then my cleaner inked lines.

I was also experimenting with Tinettes design, and when I drew her hair I was like... "Ooooo, I LIKE this drawing!" It was supposed to be a doodle following the recent happenings of the RP, but I wound up liking the drawing enough to not want to destroy it.

My tea is incredibly sweet tonight.

I also was playing with eye styles tonight, because I just watched the Swan Princess and was like.. I want to try something ELSE for eyes! She just doesn't look... she looks far too like.. Eh, I wanted to give her more angular lines to match her angular face and her sharp personality. So for Tina, I looked up pictures of Megara, from Disney's Hercules to give me ideas for how I would pull off a more angular eye shape without looking ridiculous.

Also, something I noticed in the Swan Princess that I never picked up on before.. Adding eyelashes to characters eyes just gives them that much more depth. So when I doodled Suka tonight, I tried to give her eyelashes to look less flat and pasted on her face. AY FINK IT WORKED! Which of course, in turn, makes me happy.

Everytime I draw Suka now-a-days, she looks worried and unhappy. And is healed. I'm having far too much fun with this healed version from the RP, when in her world her disease kills her and she never really gets the chance to show off her face... Half a face is so hard to express emotions with! I like drawing her full face >< Oh well, I think I'll go and try to draw a happier Suka, and maybe play with my green marker, when I dig it up.

Tomorrow is my least favourite day of the week and I have the startings of a headache! Oh glorious.

And I am out! 10:25
