She's So Out of His League

Tinette! In pencil crayons.

Like I mentioned a little while ago, I've started a new RP with Tinette in it. It also includes Fray. Not really sure how we figured this out- BUT Sarah and I have decided it would be hilarious to have Fray and Tinette as a couple.

It really, really, really doesn't make any sense, especially today as I was drawing Tina, and Sarah was drawing Fray- she is so very much completely out of his league. He's a really gross, icky, rude, perverted, hot headed- I'd label him a creep and never speak to him. While Tina, on the other hand, believes she's above everyone else, doesn't need a man, self centered, vain, proud, aaand, I'd label her a bitch and never speak to her.

So what is this!? This is Tina meeting the one person who won't put up with her hoity toity attitude. We've decided the relationship started more than likely- when Fray slapped her.

Oh yeah, we're so awesome.

So anyways, this was just a quick doodle I wasn't really going to pay a lot of attention to; you'll notice she doesn't have any toes, or proper fingers... but after I drew the sketch, I wanted to play with the supplies inside my pencil case. Those supplies meant pencil crayons! Soooo-- I played with my pencil crayons. It was fun and passed about an hour or so at work.

She's so out of his league, we're so ridiculous. Ha haaa, this is going to be so much fun.

I'm Doing It Again...

Posting twice in one day! You'd think I didn't have a life or something.

Oh wait...

Art is my life, I'm cool with that.

Okay so I was just thinking about how badly I wanted to paint and colour and stuff, but couldn't because for whatever reason everything I wanted to draw wasn't turning out all that awesome. Daaamn.

So, I figured I'd just focusing on colouring. I had this picture of Ninja in my clip board that I'd started colouring at work in copics, but I couldn't finish her clothes because Tara didn't have any blues or greens. I figured I'd finish them today, in Prisma colour markers.

I picked up my clipboard, and it was chalk full of sketches and process doodles. I figured I should organize some stuff. I took out the actual workable pieces and I put them in my portfolio under June 2010, and I grabbed all the scratch pages and pulled out my second, very much beat up portfolio that I store my sketches in. As I was trying to cram stuff away, I passed a sheet of writing.

My brain perked up, as I always forget what I write and I love re-reading to see what characters and what plots I had started. As I grabbed it and started flipping through, it was made obvious to me that it was all emo poetry I should be shot for writing. There were a couple of writings I'd forgotten about, and--- What's this? I realized there was art in there that had somehow survived the purging of my portfolio a few months back.

I took them out and flipped through them, embarrassed by my lack of anatomy and just.. ignorance of important body parts. For example: crotches. However, one picture, gave me a bit of a start. It was the image I could see clearly in my minds eye when I was working on this picture, but was certain I'd lost forever because I'd thrown it away. But no, as it turns out, it some how survived, and as I stared at it, I wanted to red line it.

Point out all the errors a stupid younger me had made.

However, instead of bothering with all the effort of trying to correct something that just can't be corrected, I decided to redraw it.

Funny thing, where inspiration can come from. After I penciled it, I wanted to colour in the purple of the bruises, but I couldn't do that without colouring in some skin. Instead of inking my drawing, I decided I'd go right at it, taking inspiration from my coworker Spencer. So, using my markers, I coloured it.

Originally I wanted to try to take advantage of the white of my paper, and it was going well. Until I added the purple of the bruises. It stood out too harshly against the skin tone I'd used. I figured the logical answer was to dilute the purple, and to do that, I needed gray. I grabbed my lightest gray, and went at it, filling in the white (to help with blending) as I went.

Suka wound up looking like a zombie, but I got the purple to work. I thought it looked terrible, but after I inked it, it didn't look too bad.

I'm kinda glad this drawing survived- It's old, but it was a special piece to me, even if I didn't finish it. I'm glad I found it tonight and got all inspired to try to draw it again.

Today has been a good day, I think!

Pile on the Filters!

Yes, this is what happens when I don't feel like actually going through the effort of painting the background I carefully designed.

I take a photo and I filter the ever loving crap out of it!

This was me playing around at new colouring techniques. Again, haha.

Eventually I'll find and settle on a method I enjoy and doesn't take me a million years to complete.

So here, I present Tinette! Again! In all her hippy glory.

And a rock.

Just having fun, I still have a couple old files I need to finish.

Spent the entirety of last week booking in fourteen hour days. I was totally exhausted and I think I still am, haha. It doesn't really feel like Saturday, but it feels nice to have remained in bed past seven. Feels nice to do something artistic, even if none of my actual DRAWING drawings are turning out right now.

With that, I shall focus on colouring!

Tadum.

I'm Waiting for Pastry to Thaw.

I haven't been finishing anything lately, so I'm going to drop out some WIP's I got going down! Hopefully by the time I'm finished my puff pastry will be malleable and I can go prepare some dinner. Mmmm, spinach.

SO, first work in progress! I started this one shortly after I finished "Where the Green Things Grow" because Alan's profile was in need of an update.

I like Alan; he's fun, active, even if he is a bit of loser. Alan talks bigger than he is, but there's not much I can do about that.

When I was working on my character profiles, I found it kinda funny that I drew Alan in a city. See, Alan doesn't really like to sit still. He moves around a lot and hates being confined. He spends about 80% of his time outdoors, yet here I drew him, inside of a city.

Yet, I drew Suka, who would prefer nothing than to be safely nestled away indoors away from anything strange and terrifying; in a forest, with a bunch of plants.

I think my characters are trying to tell me something.

This, is one I'm really enjoying so far, I just don't have the time to work on it. I've always loved fireflies, despite the fact that I'm terrified of just about every insect I come across. Yes, even lady bugs. Butterflies aren't too bad though. They don't bite, as far as I know.

Anyways, my friend Chelsea posted a picture online with her and her friend as doggies in a forest of crimson butterflies (I know, she's so cruel) and I was like... I want to paint fireflies.

And so, I started this picture! You can't tell what's really going on, because the line art is lost on the background, but yeah, it's slowly coming together. I still have more light to add, another candle, and a billion fireflies.

I didn't want to draw a typical pose of characters flat out on their backs staring up at the pretty sky, so I spent a while working on the pose. In the end, I wound up stealing the pose from when Chris and I were hanging out at my house once, just chillin' on the bed being cool like that.

I'm really excited to finish this one, like... insanely excited.

My mouse is just slowly working its way across my two screens and I'm not even touching it.

This last one I drew today. Sarah and I are starting another RP, this time giving one we started a long time ago a second go around. We sort of murderized the shit out of it last time. We get some new players this time around, which is pretty exciting! After seeing my old profile pictures I was obligated to make some new ones, the old ones being just.. well, way too gross looking.

I leveled up around January, and these were pre-portfolio pictures, eeewy.

I started with Tinette! One of my personal favourites. Of course, every time I draw her now her hips just keep getting bigger and bigger.. I'm getting way to carried away with curves, BUT SHE'S SO MUCH FUN TO DRAW!!

It seems like Tina's going to have a boyfriend for the first time since she was a teenager. Iiiiinteresting.

Very interesting.

I'm working on Rebel and Ninja next, but so far I'm unhappy with the results. I can't wait to finish these, haha.
