Post Rise

I realized during the screening of the fourth year films that not a single one of my characters fights with a hammer.

I decided that was a grievous oversight on my part.

Now Ninja has a hammer! Unfortunately it's not a very good weapon for Rise, because Rise is a very cramped city with little swing room, and Ninja wasn't built to swing around a great giant two handed war hammer like I like to swing around in Guild Wars.

This painting was so much fun.

Post-Rise, it seems Ninja and Sherry can't catch a break, even after leaving the city to find a place to settle down.

Some time after this they settle down and have a family, I'm sure. Ninja is the fighter in the family, while Sherlock makes it his duty to protect his hot-headed wife from danger, while participating in actual violence as little as possible.

I couldn't give Ninja strictly melee weapons, seeing as she exists in a world where advanced technology does exist, but the two of them did their best to separate themselves from that, and to move some where a little more behind the times.

Passing the time with Sketches

Because I've stopped spending my spare time lurking the internet, I have certainly been doing a lot more drawing, though I haven't really settled on any ideas I want to take to finish.

Today, I was doing sketches of Sherry and Ninja at different stages in their lives.

This is Sherlock and Ninja shortly after they first met; Ninja was eighteen and Sherry was- two. Ninja was still carrying around a lot of baggage, still blaming herself for the mistakes of her past, and she'd picked up a nasty habit of smoking and was even more reckless with her life than she ever had been previously. It's almost like she didn't care anymore.

This is the Ninja Sherlock fell and love with, and this is the Ninja Sherlock stuck to his entire life.

I also drew a companion picture of Ninja to go with the older picture I'd drawn of Sherlock. I'm not sure how old the two of them are in this picture, but I'm guessing Ninja is maybe a hundred and ten, a hundred and fifty? So Sherlock would be ninety five or a hundred and thirty five? Somewhere in there, Ninja doesn't physically age much past this point. Sherlock doesn't either, but he does get more weathered in appearance than his wife does.

Hoooray, doodles doodles doodles!

Kidlets

Oh and I drew these two nights ago. Sherry and Ninja's eventually kidlets.

And a beardy Sherry I drew really quickly for Jessica who was having a hard time picturing him with facial hair.

I drew a companion older Ninja as well, but she's traditional and I don't feel like scanning.

Sketches Everywhere

I have been SCANNING ALL EVENING.

Okay so, I tried to break this up into two chunks so hopefully it'll upload okay- to the left I have every sketch or drawing I've done related directly to Pirates- and also Alan's parents because oops.

Well Alan wasn't in my other sketch dump at all, so I figured it would be best to include his parents with him, where they belong.

Okay so, we have... couples, couples, couples, couples, portraits, couples, couples, and more couples.

I draw a lot of couples.

Yes I draw other things.
AND THEN, everything else I draw! Because yes, I draw more than just pirates, as much as I love them.  I have couples, couples, couples, and more couples.

I'm sensing a trend.

A lot of Ninja's in this second batch- she's been the focus of my attention lately, because I think she's awesome. We have some Piqa, Sherry, Eli, Kara, and Ainmire in there as well. Oh and me, with a couple pieces from my style meme before I chop my hair off tomorrow and have to figure everything out anew.

Awesome, all of my drawings from what has to be the last four months or so.

February vs December Again

I FINISHED MY ACTION ANALYSIS. I'm so relieved, I just can't handle it. I spent a good hour trying to decide if I should draw or paint or bake or- what have you.

I decided it was time I finish up Sherlock's profile picture.  I figured I should age him to appropriately match the age Ninja is, as in the top picture Sherlock's probably only about two or something.

Figured since Ninja was twenty five, Sherlock should match- so he's a whopping nine years old. Hasn't even hit double digits yet.

His species ages a lot different than humans do.

I should draw his mum. Sherry's mum would have to be gigantic by this point; Gorgon's reach massive proportions.

Anyways, February 2010 vs December 2012. Same characters, slight changes, just gradual growth.

Yaaaay, I'm on HOLIDAYS!

February December

I don't have too much to say today.

I'm sick and trying to clean up my animation while wasting time.

Ninja on the left drawn February 2011- Ninja on the right drawn December 2012. Same design, minor changes.

Yaaaay.

Finished

Yay!

I've been working on this since Wednesday, I think. That's when I drew the original sketch at least.

I'm pretty proud of this. It's not often I go all gung ho on a painting, since I usually get bored about halfway through, but this one demanded my attention until I finished. Now I have.

Sweet.

This is Ninja, shortly after she unlocks her locked powers and her eyes changed from brown to red.  Ninja can use other magic too, but fire is her natural gift and requires no casting to access.

She can't control it very well, so she avoids using it, though it can get away from her when she gets too angry.

Yay Ninja!

Yay painting!!

To the right is the original sketch I painted over.

I am exhausted.

Hacking Away

I've been working at this all evening.

Remember how I said that I didn't have any time to work anymore? So I drew this earlier during story class and while discussing different directions to take our film in-

I came home and I started to paint it, because I liked it very much, and I had a lot of inspiration. I wanted to paint it the way I'd learned while away at my workshop, so... lots and lots of rendering! I've been painting since five thirty.

I didn't know how to paint fire, so I looked up a reference and painted from that.

Hooraaaay, a painting!

This is Ninja, also. She's cool like that. Burns things to cinders. Because she's amazing.

I hope to add colour maybe tomorrow or something?

Ice verses Fire

I haven't really had any time to work on something for myself lately; I've been so busy doing work for school, I forgot what it felt like to just do something fun.

That being said, I sat down tonight after classes, and I drew this. I really liked it, it turned out cute and made me smile, even though I made it.

Lenore on the left is Jessica's character, who I've only drawn once before, while Ninja is mine. Lenore has some hidden magic abilities, over ice? I think? I'm not entirely sure to be honest, but she has magic powers. Ninja has powers over fire, but Ninja isn't able to control her powers- her powers were latent for most of her life, so she never learned the appropriate discipline to control it.

I know in a fight there aren't many people who would stand much of a chance against Ninja, simply because she can't control her flames. They get away from her, and she is immune to the heat. I didn't want to draw Ninja wiping Lenore of the map, so I thought about this cute little interaction of their opposite abilities instead.

Yay, cute things. I miss drawing.

No Touching

Ninja doesn't share.

I've been watching "Snow White and the Huntsman" while working on this.

And ahhahahahaha, it's not a very good movie.

Pretty.

But really not very good. It lacks any kind of direction at all.

But Thor. With a thicker accent.

Beautiful.

Some Cute Sketches

I like to draw cute things. Especially cute couples. Because they're adorable.

Just some quick sketches of Sherry and Ninja, following them through the years, and then a couple bonuses of Sherry and Shaari from a different universe who are both super shy and make it pretty hard to draw cute couples with because.. because...

Well, they both get really flustered really easily.

They're cute anyways.

Hot Pursuit

Well this took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to finish.

I'm still working on benders, haha. I have Shannon, Kaitlin, Sarah, Evan, and Kaytor to finish.

Until then, yay, something from Rise!!

Finally

Being a manager actually sort of sucks.

I miss not having to be in charge.

Got home from work today and I passed right out on the couch- woke up when Sarah came home and started doing dishes.

Anyways-- too tired to explain, here's a picture I started on Friday of Ninja, and added colour today.

I'm too tired for this.

Suave

Woo, finished my second art trade of the summer! And damn, did he fight me the whole way through.

I have a hard time with skinny characters, be they my own, or other people's.

When I was asked to draw Laurent as "suave" I must've looked at three hundred pictures of Fred Astaire. I'm a huge fan of Fred Astaire, and I don't think anything quite hits 'suave' as clearly as Fred Astaire.

Except George Clooney of course, who is awesome.

I PRESENT TO EVERYONE, Laurent. Impossibly fussy, whiny, prince.

Laurent belongs to Sarah, who is drawing me a picture of Kara in return!

Jessica finished this awesome picture of Ninja for me today!!

I love Ninja a lot, I really do, and even though she drives me crazy, I feel like she doesn't get enough love, so I was super happy that I asked Jess to draw her for me.

Hee, freckles.

Ninja's awesome, and Jessica has such pretty art.

Just a Piece

Just a piece of something bigger I'm working on right now.

I was pretty happy with it!

Sherry and Ninja both sport freckles now. Figured since they were redheads and all.

First time I've gotten to colour Sherlock's new eyes.

Hot Headed

Ninja matches her hair colour a little better as she gets older. I really like to play with shapes and colour, just messing around with the lasso tool.

Drew this a couple days ago while I was trying to come up with a more dynamic pose- Usually my art is very static, but I was pretty happy with this drawing.

In case you couldn't guess, Ninja controls fire. She also has a slew of other abilities she can draw forth with incantations and markings, but fire is her natural gift.

Fire is super fun to do in shapes!

I like this picture so much, I might even put it on DA.

A Bit of Story

The other day, my good friend Jessica designed some pretty dresses for a bunch of our characters in an RP who were having a fancy dinner.

Ninja didn't get a dress, because she's just a kid, and super annoying, and doesn't wear dresses.

I wanted to design her in a dress, so I went back to her own story Rise, and lifted Ninja out and helped fit her into a very beautiful dress that had a ridiculous amount of fabric.

I won't lie, I really liked it-- but Ninja wouldn't wear a dress. She's too active, and also a crucial member to the resistance, along with her boyfriend, Sherlock. She looked miserable, but I knew why-- one, she was in a dress, but two was how she got there in the first place.

The president of Rise is a pretty unsavoury fellow. He's the reason Children were so prosecuted in the first place. Now he's trying to establish trade relations with the Children, and Ninja, being half Child herself, is the only connection he's got.

I've never tried to draw him before, so today I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm pretty satisfied with the creepy result. Never fear! He's not married to her or anything.

She's more of a hostage than anything.

Hence the displeasure in being forced to wear the dress, when Ninja would give anything to see this man dead.

Anything but Sherry.

Dun dun dun!!

It just so happened that all of my drawings from today went together extremely well, and I felt like drawing a rescue!

So here is Sherry, rescuing his usually extremely adept girlfriend from the clutches of a fat, fat, sleezy president.

He gives me shivers.

Sherry usually wears a blindfold, but I figured he pulled it down around his neck to stage his glorious rescue.

I'm sure everything ended fine.

Valentine Wishes Three

Third valentine card I made!

Actually, it's the fifth. Third valentine I've posted.

Sherry and Ninja are a couple I root for very strongly, as they deserve every bit of happiness.

Plus, they're just made of cute.

So cute.

I am currently out of valentines, but I'm working on more.

I should probably actually do my homework at some point.

Pft, homework. Even though I have story boarding tomorrow. Oh dear.

Scant Collection

I haven't has as much time to draw lately as I wish I did, haha. Too much school, too much homework. I'm still writing though, so I'm keeping my creative brain busy.

Here's a drawing of Sherlock I made for Chelsea a few weeks ago while she was having a rough day. I gave him a little bit of a chin. He looks eighteen now.

Instead of sixteen.

Chelsea was happy.

That day, I'd decided I wanted to draw Sherry and Ninja, because I love them so much. So, in the afternoon class, I started to draw the couple of them.

It took me a while to find the time, but I eventually finished!

See? I'm not unfair to all of my characters. Just most of them.

So here, some Sherry and Ninja, havin' a moment.

For halloween this year, I dressed up as the doctor, from doctor who, and Leah was my companion.

We traveled all of space and time together and returned the same day we left! It is the advantage of having a TARDIS.

Later that night, I did up my makeup so I looked like a sugar skull for Day of the Dead.

It was a pretty kickin' halloween.

And a doodle of Alan and Rebel, just from my sketchbook.

I realized that even though Alan is Spanish, the goat I based his satyr appearance off of happens to be native to North America.

Oh well, it's a fantasy story.

And FINALLY working on getting some refined designs for the metal prosthetic one of my OC's has essentially drilled into her arm.

I gotta say, I'm having a ball coming up with all these designs and drawings.

Working out the mechanics is killing me though, haha! I'm sure there's a metal skeleton in there somewhere that holds it all together.

And hooray! All the work I have done lately.

I know, it isn't very much, I'm sad too.
